The children have been on school holiday for the past two weeks at help2kids. When they went on holiday we got their report cards. Many of them are doing very well in school, and some definitely need extra help to improve their grades. Our top students this semester were Happy J. (2nd out of 86 students in Standard 2 at Mbezi Beach School), Augusti (2nd out of 120 students in Standard 3 at Mbezi Beach School), Eliuter (5th out of 65 students in Standard 2 at Kawe A School), Johnny (7th out of 91 students in Standard 1 at Mbezi Beach School), Prisca (10th out of 86 students in Standard 2 at Mbezi Beach School), and Evaristo (12th out of 120 students in Standard 3 at Mbezi Beach School). We are very proud of their achievements.
Since the children have been on holiday we had the opportunity to take some fun field trips. Last week Tuesday all of the older children went to visit Bagamoyo, a town with a rich history located about an hour outside of Dar es Salaam. They took a tour of the town and also had a great time swimming at the beach.
The younger children went to our nearby beach on Thursday and also had a great time swimming in the water (there were a lot of waves this time!) and playing in the sand.
This week 7 or 8 children have had the opportunity to visit our guest house every day (www.friendlygecko.com) and have had a great time playing in the yard, eating special meals prepared by Juliet, the amazing Friendly Gecko cook, and watching movies.
I hope all of you have a wonderful week.
