Volunteering / Accommodation

After a busy and fun day working in our projects or exploring a different culture, there is nothing better than returning to a comfortable and relaxed environment and having the chance to unwind and share experiences with other volunteers, perhaps time to write a diary or blog, send pictures and messages home, cook dinner together and read a good book before falling asleep.

Our Volunteer Houses are spacious and comfortable and offer enough space for 15 volunteers in Tanzania and 14 volunteers in Malawi.

In Tanzania the Volunteer House is part of the help2kids Campus. We have 3 dormitories for 4 – 6 volunteers and a private room for a bit more privacy. All rooms are equipped with ceiling and standing fans and all beds have mosquito nets. All rooms share a shower and three toilets.

The fees include breakfast at the Volunteer House: toast, butter, peanut butter, jam, tea, coffee, juice and a daily special: eggs, chapati, mandazi or fresh fruit. The volunteers have access to a well-equipped kitchen to cook their own food for lunch and dinner – although you can eat lunch at our campus as an optional extra.

Next to the house we have a spacious separate outside area for the volunteers with sofas and deck-chairs to relax in the evenings with a cool drink and a good book or games.

You can find more pictures below.

In Malawi we have two 6-bed dorm rooms that share a bathroom as well as private rooms and even a separate private cottage. All beds are equipped with mosquito nets.

We provide breakfast and lunch from Monday to Friday. For breakfast you will receive coffee, tea, bread, jam, and either eggs, bread rolls, or fruits. Lunches are a mix of Western and Malawian meals, so you can expect rice and beans, nsima, vegetables, and potatoes. The Volunteer House has a well-equipped kitchen and a grill in the garden where volunteers can prepare dinner for themselves. Once a week we have a family dinner where we all cook together.

We have a big living and dinging room, a breezy veranda with lounge chairs to relax in the evenings and in your free time. The Volunteer House is surrounded by a big garden and the beach is right outside the backdoor.
