Extra activities for Kids

Children are passionate about so many other things than just academics. Whether it is sports, singing, dancing, painting or anything else, every child is interested in something that lets them explore and identify their hidden talents. In addition, it helps the children develop important life skills such as time management, mutual respect and the importance of pulling together as a team. That’s why at help2kids we are committed to providing a wide range of extra curricula activities after school and during the holidays at both the Children’s Home and the Kunduchi Day Care Centre. These activities are critical in ensuring our children realise their full potential now and in their future lives. Some of the activities we provide are:

Cooking

Cooking a healthy meal for yourself is a simple yet very important task. Learning to follow the recipe, mixing the right ingredients, learning about nutrition and even sharing. These are just a few of the benefits of learning to cook.

Dance

Even shy children can find that dance is a great way for them to express their feelings and release daily stress – a distraction from everyday worries and an outlet for imagination and emotion. Dance has helped our children build their confidence, coordination, fitness and overall wellbeing.

Sports

Our children who are involved in sports grow physically, mentally and emotionally. The most common sport is football for both girls and boys but the girls also enjoy their netball. They have learnt to make decisions not only for themselves but for the good of the team. Constant exercise and practice have improved their learning at school too as the child learns to focus as well as blowing off some excess energy that otherwise can lead to them becoming distracted in their lessons.

Arts and craft

We arrange a number of special activities with our partner, Creative Child with Education. These have included arts and crafts workshops once per month. Children are divided into groups and given a task to accomplish. Working on a craft project together for children can help improve their teamwork, communication and social skills, as they will have to learn to co-operate and communicate to complete their projects. It is also a very good alternative way for the children to express their feelings.

It needs to be planned and executed right for extra curriculum to have a positive impact to the kids. They need close supervision and dedicative team of trainers to assist and teach them during the activities
