Clinical Outreach Program Malawi

help2kids partners with the local clinic in providing the much needed transport and volunteer services to outreach clinics to areas under the jurisdiction of Lifuwu clinic. The furthest place being 34 kilometers one way, this meant that these women would either have to walk long distances to get to the clinic or access postnatal services once in a while as the clinic staff relied on motorbikes which would only carry limited supplies and limited human resource such as one person per visit who has to serve over 60 women on average and it was hard. Especially during the rainy season, most places become inaccessible with a motorbike hence cutting them off from these services.

Provision of transport and volunteers has improved service delivery of these services as now more than one clinical personnel are able to visit these outreach points and our volunteers help in weighing the weight and measuring heights of these babies as well as recording them in their health passports. There are 9 outreach points and every point is visited once a month and help2kids and clinical staff have to drive to these places at least twice a week to reach the target. On average 60 women and children are served each day of outreach.
