The Children's Home

We have found the ideal house for children in a beautiful location! Welcome to Mbezi Beach!

Our children's home is large, bright, and it opens to a nice garden with a little playground. It is situated outside of Dar es Salaam, near the beach of Mbezi, in a quiet and safe environment. It is the ideal location for children.

We try to offer our children as many interesting free-time activities as possible. Our volunteers regularly organize sports activities and awareness events, such as environmental classes with other NGO's.

On the left you can see the breakfast of our children at the children's home. We have a big vegetable garden where we grow our own food and the children  learn how to take responsibility about such things. Finally, we have cats and tortoises to teach them how to treat animals.

Also our general information video contains a lot of interesting information about our projects in Tanzania. Have a look and enjoy!

More stories and information about our children

The children at the help2kids children home come from all regions of Tanzania and each child has a touching story. Many parents of our children died because of HIV or other diseases. Some children lost only one parent, but the remaining parent was not able to care enough for its children (especially since many women still have around 6 children). Therefore they were sent to beg for money or to find something to eat. Some children were also abused by their parents or other relatives or had to live under very bad conditions. They ran away or were taken away by other people and given to orphanages.

We would like to tell you more stories about our children, but we want to respect some privacy of our children. Therefore we hope you understand that we cannot give too many details about the past of each single child.

Abu was the first member of our help2kids family in Tanzania. Unfortunately he suffers from autism, which has been confirmed by some tests. However he already made some remarkable progress the last few months which no one would have considered possible before.

On 12 February 2011 another 12 children joined our help2kids home in Dar es Salaam. These are Dorie, Dotto, Eliuta, Evaristo, Happiness, John, Kulwa, Neema, Pascal, Prisca, Suzy, Winston and Zainabu. They come from another orphanage in Dar es Salaam where there are too many children and the organisation is not able to care sufficiently for the children. So we decided to take the youngest children to our orphanage to provide them a better future and to make more space for the other children.

During March 2011 more children moved in our orphanage. These are Johnny, William, Happy, Augusti and Nuru. Each child has a touching past. For example Johnny's parents died at the explosion of a military amunition base and Nuru's family had problems caused of her albinism. We are happy to care for them now and offer them a better future.

In July 2011 a new boy of 6 years (Donadi Francis) has moved to our orphanage. He is Suzie's brother who is already more than 6 months living with us. For both children it was probably one of their happiest moments in life to see each other again. We are also very happy that Donadi joined our family now. The father of these two children died very early in their life and the mother was injured at a car accident. Therefore she was not able anymore to care enough for the children.

Pius joined our family in September 2011. He comes to us from a very sad situation and actually has been living just down the road from the help2kids orphanage in a small shack with his grandmother. His mother, who was HIV positive, passed away and his father disappeared. He was left in the care of his elderly grandmother, who is unable to provide for him or herself due to her age and physical condition. Although Pius has been attending school, he has grown up a street child and is accustomed to begging for meals and money. Pius is a wonderful, sweet, and intelligent boy who has already won the hearts of the help2kids staff and has made fast friends with our other children.

Baraka, Simon, Star, Savera and Selemani joined our help2kids family in February, 2012. The come from different regions of Tanzania and were already known by us or our foster mothers before (from their hometowns).  These children lost their parents and had a difficult life before joining our Children's home. But we are happy to know that they are all HIV negative and passed our medical tests well (besides of some malnutrition problems). We are enrolling them at school now and try to offer them the best environment possible for their future development.
